set: minerals // series: // picture: sulphide vein

A large vein containing sulphides of iron, lead, zinc and copper (Baia Mare, northern Romania). This deposit was probably formed from hydrothermal fluids travelling along a large, near-vertical fault. The vein was built up by the deposition of hundreds of small, individual layers of sulphide minerals.
